Resurfacing work is due to begin on the car park area next to the renal unit at Monklands Hospital from Friday 3 February.

The car park will be closed to general access from late evening on Thursday 2 February and is scheduled to reopen on Friday 10 February.

Colin Lauder, NHS Lanarkshire head of planning and development, said: “This resurfacing work is essential and is part of ongoing works to provide better on-site parking.

“During this period of work the whole car park area next to the renal unit will be fenced off and a security guard will be present to allow essential access. Ambulance access and patient drop off will be guaranteed at all times however parking will be restricted to disabled spaces only.”

It is anticipated that the newly refurbished car park will reopen on Friday 10 February however this depends on weather conditions.

For the duration of the work staff, patients and visitors are advised to make use of the new car park which is located at the rear of the hospital close to the David Matthews Diabetes Centre.
