Industrial Action Thursday 21 June

Impact on patient services

“We apologise for any disruption and inconvenience caused.  Maintaining safe essential services is our priority,” Kenny Small, Director of Human Resources.

As a result of a day of industrial action by British Medical Association members, which is due to take place on Thursday 21 June, there will be an impact on some planned routine NHS patient services.

Hospital and GP emergency services will continue to be provided as normal.  This includes GP and hospital appointments identified as urgent and out of hours emergency cover.

As a result of the day of action some outpatient and planned routine hospital procedures have been cancelled.  We have written to all patients with appointments on Thursday 21 June to advise them whether their appointment will proceed.  All affected appointments will be rearranged.

Urgent or emergency appointments will be available at all GP practices, and other services, such as treatment room appointments, will be unaffected.  Patients should contact their GP practice if they need clarification regarding an appointment.

Services will operate as normal on Friday 22 June.

Further information on the impact on services will be provided on the NHS Lanarkshire social media sites www.facebook.com/nhslanarkshire and twitter.com/nhslanarkshire.
