Cardowan, Stepps Pharmacy Application

Consultation underway to get views of local people

Residents in Cardowan, Stepps are being invited to give their views on whether they feel they have adequate access to pharmacy services in their area.

Residents in Cardowan, Stepps are being invited to give their views on whether they feel they have adequate access to pharmacy services in their area.

The exercise is part of a joint consultation between NHS Lanarkshire and KKJ Pharma Ltd and Saima Latif as they would like to apply to NHS Lanarkshire to open a new pharmacy, offering a full range of NHS pharmaceutical services, at 14 Dorlin Road, Cardowan, Stepps, G33 6AP during the hours of Monday to Friday, 9.00am-6.00pm and Saturday, 9.00am–1.00pm.

Before an application can be made, regulations require that NHS Lanarkshire and KKJ Pharma Ltd and Saima Latif carry out a joint consultation to seek the views of local people on whether they feel they already have adequate access to pharmacy services in the area and gauge the level of support for the proposal.

NHS Lanarkshire primary care services administration manager, Gillian Forsyth, said: “This is only a proposal, however, we want to gauge how people feel about it and the survey will help us capture this.

“For example, people will be able to record whether they feel they already have adequate access to pharmacy services in the area or whether they feel there are gaps or deficiencies in services to the neighbourhood.”

All views submitted to the survey will be incorporated into a Consultation Analysis Report which will be taken into account by NHS Lanarkshire’s Pharmacy Practices Committee (PPC) which decides the outcome of such applications.

An information webpage on the pharmacy application process is available at http://www.nhslanarkshire.org.uk/Services/Pharmacy/PPC/Pages/Applications.aspx to appraise respondents of the pharmacy application process to highlight how they can help inform the decision-making process, promote participation and make more informed responses.
