NHS Lanarkshire occupational therapists (OT) working in mental health are inviting members of the public to join them for a coffee.
Members of the OT mental health team plan to hold four coffee mornings across Lanarkshire to promote OT community clinics which take place throughout Lanarkshire for people who have worries or concerns about their mental health.
OT Danielle Turner, who is overseeing the initiative said: “One in three of us will develop mental health issues at some point in our lives and we want people to be aware that the earlier they get help or support, the less likely it is these issues will escalate.
“Many people can find themselves in situations where they are finding it more difficult to cope with everyday activities or roles.
“There are many factors that can impact on your mental health such as life changes, housing, work, money worries and relationships and we want people to know there is help and support to help get them through these periods.”
The coffee mornings are being held during Occupational Therapy Week which falls on 7-13 November.
Danielle continued: “At the coffee mornings, we will have information on where the 10 clinics are in Lanarkshire and how people can self-refer to a clinic near them.
“They can also find out about OT services within mental health in their area as well as ways to maintain positive mental health and wellbeing.
“They can also enjoy some tea, coffee, biscuits and cake.”

- Monday 7 November: 9.30am – 12pm Coatbridge High Street, (Unit 24 Next to Nisa Local)
