Lanarkshire's Macmillan nurses are looking for donations to support their annual event for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Lanarkshire's Macmillan nurses are looking for donations to support their annual event for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

This is the third year the nurses have held their coffee and quiz evening to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Last year the Macmillan nursing team, which is based at Udston Hospital but covers the whole of Lanarkshire, raised a phenomenal £2590 and they are look to match or even exceed this amount at this year’s event.

Jan Smith, Macmillan nurse co-ordinator, based at Udston Hospital, said: “It is a really worthwhile event for us because we can directly see the benefits that Macmillan provides for those living with cancer.

“Often people just hear about what Macmillan do, whereas we can directly see the benefits patients get, for example grants given by Macmillan.

“This event is our way of contributing and giving something back.”

The fundraising event will be held in Hamilton Rugby Club on Saturday 8 October.

In addition to the quiz, the nurses also organise a disco and a couple of raffles on the evening and they would very much appreciate any donations for their luxury raffle.

If anyone would like to donate a prize please contact Jan on 01698 723282.

Anyone who would like to organise their own coffee morning should register for a free fundraising pack at  www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee or call 0845 602 1246.
