Vaccination

Is there a vaccine against Influenza A(H1N1)?
A vaccine is currently been developed to protect humans from Influenza A(H1N1). Initial supplies are expected to become available in the coming weeks.

What if I want to opt out of getting the vaccine?
The vaccine will be offered to everyone in Scotland. This is aimed at reducing the number of people who become ill with Influenza A(H1N1). However, the vaccine will not be compulsory and you will be able to opt out if you wish.

I work for NHS Lanarkshire, can I opt out of getting the vaccine?
NHS staff will be encouraged to get the vaccine to reduce their chances of catching Influenza A(H1N1) and to reduce the chance of them passing it onto others. This is particular important for staff in contact with patients who may be at greater risk of complications as a result of Influenza A(H1N1). However, the vaccine will not be compulsory and staff will be able to opt out if they wish.
