The Lanarkshire Stroke Managed Clincal Network (MCN), Patient and Carer Group is the principle working group of the network. The group is chaired by Katrina Brennan, Stroke MCN Manager.
The membership includes patients, carers and professionals from a variety of disciplines. The remit and aims of the group include:
- To direct and shape the current and future development of stroke services in Lanarkshire
- To participate in the monitoring of the quality of services delivered
- To make appropriate recommendations to the MCN Steering group relating to service delivery and efficiency
- To act as a reference group to provide expertise and advice on the implementation of local and national policy
- To represent the Stroke MCN at meetings, forums as necessary and as agreed with all members of the Patient and Carer Group
- To use individual experience, as a current or former patient with stroke or as a carer of someone with stroke to contribute to the ongoing development of stroke services within Lanarkshire
- To participate in an open and constructive manner which benefits the service within Lanarkshire
Every alternate year the group holds an open event which gives new patients and
carers the opportunity to become a group member. It also encourages staff who wish to participate to become group members.
