Consider a referral if any one or more of the following occurs:
Difficulties with breast or bottle feeding involving quality of suck or swallow
Tongue tie affects feeding
Failure to progress onto pureed food
Prolonged difficulty making transition onto lumpier foods including finger foods
Coughing or choking on fluids or solid foods
Delayed chewing maturation where other skills are age appropriate
