Department of Public Health

The Department of Public Health provides a service for the whole of NHS Lanarkshire.

The Department assesses the health status and health care needs of the people of Lanarkshire and contributes to improving health in the following three related areas:

  • health protection,
  • health improvement,
  • and health service development.

It also works closely with clinical and non-clinical departments across NHS Lanarkshire, other parts of the NHS, North and South Lanarkshire Councils, voluntary sector organisations and other health partners.

This web site contains links to the Director of Public Health’s Annual Report which provides information on the health of the people of Lanarkshire.

Information is provided on the key threats to Lanarkshire life expectancy and the services the NHS is developing to protect and improve the county’s health.

The annual report for each calendar year is published in October of the following year.
