Strathcarron Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for the people of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. Strathcarron Hospice provides specialist palliative care services for the people of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth The Hospice cares for patients with progressive and life limiting illnesses and provides a range of services including:
 

  • A 24 bedded specialist palliative care inpatient unit
  • A Day Hospice offering care for up to 100 patients per week
  • A Consultant led Home Care service with Community Clinical Nurse Specialists covering Cumbernauld and Kilsyth for both cancer and non-malignant conditions
  • A 24 hour palliative care helpline
  • A specialist Lymphoedema service
  • An Education Department supporting the provision of palliative care across the area
  • A specialist bereavement service for adults and children 

 
Strathcarron Hospice has been providing specialist palliative care for over 28 years. The Hospice is an independent charity, which needs to raise over £55,000 every week to provide its services. Every year over 1,000 referrals are received from patients in its catchment area.
 
The specialist services are provided by an experience multi-disciplinary team including 4 Consultants, 5 Physicians, 10 Community Clinical Nurse Specialists, a team of qualified and auxiliary nursing staff. They are supported by a range of other specialist staff including a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Chaplains, Family Support Workers, Pharmacist, Complementary Therapists and Specialist Lymphoedema Practitioners. The Hospice is well linked to local and tertiary services which provide ready access to other professionals on an 'as required basis' e.g. Oncologists, Respiratory Consultant, Cardiac Consultants, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy and Dietetics.
