Keep Well
What is Keep Well?
A Keep Well health check could be your first step to dramatically reducing your risk of becoming seriously unwell. Everyone aged 45-64 who lives in Airdrie, Coatbridge or Wishaw can receive a free Keep Well health check.
Some people are more likely to develop heart disease or diabetes than others. If you are aged 45-64, a Keep Well health check can identify if you are at risk. It could also show that you have one of these conditions without realising.
Keep Well aims to improve the health of those most at need. It is a two-year pilot project running from October 2006.
Who is Keep Well for?
Everyone aged 45-64 who lives in Airdrie, Coatbridge or Wishaw can receive a free Keep Well health check.
Your GP will send you a letter inviting you for a health check. Invites will be sent out in stages, so you may not receive your letter until later in the project.
Health staff will also provide health checks in local community centres during weekends and evenings.
How can Keep Well help you?
A nurse will discuss the results of your health check with you. If necessary, you will work together to see how best to improve your health in a way that suits you.
This could include specialist advice and support around diet, exercise, smoking or drinking. You may also be prescribed medication by your GP.
