The Cleanliness Champion programme is a national training initiative aimed at frontline staff, which helps them prevent and control Hospital Acquired Infections.

Topics covered include hand hygiene, the chain of infection, the safe use and disposal of needles and the role of cleaning, laundry and housekeeping in maintaining a clean environment.

Lanarkshire’s Cleanliness Champions now have national recognition of their skills in recognising infection risks and taking appropriate action to prevent or minimise that risk and act as role models to other staff.
