Hairmyres Hospital Outpatient Clinics
Hairmyres cardiology outpatient clinics are held on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings with:
- Dr B Vallance
- Dr T Gilbert
- Dr B O’Rourke
If there are any special requirements, for example in relation to what to wear, then details of this will be sent in advance, usually with the appointment letter. Although delays can occur at these clinics (for example if a previous person has a serious problem that takes more time than expected) it is important that people try to attend at their allotted time.
Pre-screening Service
Hairmyres also runs a pre-screening service, which allows the consultant cardiologist to review each patient referred to the service and decide if they would benefit from early testing.
This service has had a positive impact on waiting times as suitable patients initially attend the hospital for tests only and depending on their results they can either be:
- Discharged from the service if their results show no heart irregularities
- Fast-tracked for an urgent appointment with the Cardiologist if necessary
- Those who still need to see a Cardiologist, but not urgently, will already have all test results to hand meaning a quicker diagnosis and start to treatment.
