How many people in Lanarkshire have diabetes?

The 2008 Scottish Diabetes Survey (source: SCI-DC national system) showed that 24,958 people in Lanarkshire (4.5% of the population) were known to have diabetes.

The split was 13.7% Type 1 and 86% Type 2.

Just over half of the people with diabetes were male (55.4%) and two thirds (67%) were aged between 45 and 74.
