Diabetes Managed Clinical Network Structure

Within Lanarkshire there are five Managed Clinical Networks; one for stroke services, one for coronary heart disease (CHD), one for vascular, one for diabetes and one for palliative care.

The aim of a Managed Clinical Network (MCN) is to create a thriving clinical community, where all the different health staff involved in a patient's care, work together to improve services and share good practice.

The main focus of work the Diabetes MCN over the coming months is a major review of diabetes care across Lanarkshire. This work will lead the way in improving the overall quality of diabetes services.

The Diabetes MCN has a Steering Group responsible for driving improvements forward. In addition, a number of groups work on specific areas, for example eye care and foot care. There is also a group of patient and carer representatives.

The Diabetes MCN can only work if everyone is involved, informed, and actively communicates about diabetes care.
