New chronic pain service
Patients who suffer from chronic pain have hailed two new services opened by NHS Lanarkshire. The new additions in Monklands Hospital and Wishaw General Hospital started in May this year - 27, August 2008
Anniversary retirement tea
NHS Lanarkshire held a special retirement tea for former employees of the NHS. Around 200 turned up at the event to commemorate the contribution of retired members to 60 years of the health service - 8 August 2008
Evening Visitor Service Extension
The Evening Visitor bus service to Monklands Hospital, has proved to be so popular that it has been extended by a further three months. It was due to end in July but it will now carry on until the end of October - 8 August 2008
NHS Lanarkshire launch new smoking ban
HUGH Dallas MBE helped NHS Lanarkshire launch its new No Smoking Policy on Friday 1 August by showing the red card to cigarettes. Smoking is now banned on all the health board’s premises and grounds – including areas around hospital, health centre and clinic entrances and car parks - Monday 4 August 2008
New Helpline and Service for Cancer Patients in Lanarkshire
CANCER patients in Lanarkshire will now have access to expert advice and treatment at weekends after a new service was launched at Monklands Hospital. NHS Lanarkshire, in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, will provide a blood transfusion service on Saturdays and Sundays 8am to 5pm - 25 July 2008.
New Palliative Care Centre opens in East Kilbride
PEOPLE with cancer and other serious illnesses will benefit from a new day centre that was officially opened in East Kilbride on Wednesday July 23. The Kilbryde Hospice’s Red Deer Drop-In Centre, run in conjunction with NHS Lanarkshire, will provide palliative care services to an estimated 400 patients each year - 25 July 2008
New service for cancer patients in Lanarkshire
HEAD and neck cancer patients in Lanarkshire are benefiting from a brand new service launched at Monklands Hospital. Karen Sheridan, from Netherburn, near Larkhall, is the first Macmillan head and neck cancer clinical nurse specialist for Lanarkshire and began her new role on Monday, June 30 - Friday 18 July.
New NHS graduates make the grade
ELEVEN NHS Lanarkshire staff proved they were top of the class by becoming the first in Scotland to achieve a new post graduate certificate.The Essential Development for Clinical Leadership Programme is accredited by Queen Margaret University - 18 July 2008.
2011 games
The 2011 International Children’s Games (ICG) will be coming to Lanarkshire.The news has been welcomed by NHS Lanarkshire as it will provide a massive boost to the health of the local population - 18 July 2008.
