Going Home
We will inform you about your discharge from hospital as early as possible. This will allow time to make arrangements for clothes, transport, services, prescriptions and so on.
We will explain any specific information or instructions to you and we will make sure that community and after-care services are arranged where necessary, making your transfer from hospital to home as smooth and easy as possible. If required we will give you a supply of medicines. Your GP will prescribe further supplies if you need them.
If you have placed any valuables for safekeeping in the cash office, 24 hours notice may be required for your belongings to be returned to you for going home.
On your day of discharge, if your transport home either hospital or own is unable to collect you before 10 am, you will be taken to “A discharge lounge” to wait for your relatives, carers or the Ambulance Service. This is staffed with a registered nurse who can continue to assist you.
