Some examples of drugs which are often misused include:
  • Illegal drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Prescription drugs – including painkillers, sleeping tablets and cold remedies
  • Aerosols, glues, gases and solvents
Sometimes people get to the stage they are unable to stop taking these drugs even if they want to – and it can be dangerous to just suddenly stop taking them.
